Fundraising game raises over 1,500 for former IJHL player

ABRAM-VILLAGE – A fundraising hockey game on Sunday afternoon raised over $1,500 for former Island Junior Hockey League (IJHL) player Cody Arsenault.

The IJHL All-Stars took on the IJHL Alumni at the Evangeline Recreation Centre. The game ended 13-5 in favour of the Alumni.

Arsenault, who is travelling back and forth to Halifax for treatments of a rare form of leukemia, played for the Abram-Village-based Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings and Charlottetown Abbies during his IJHL career. His brother, Logan, is on the current Red Wings’ squad.

Cameron Webster (2-2), Peter Waugh (2-2), Brent Coade (2-1), Kyle Reardon (2), TJ Campbell (2), Alex Smith (1-2), Kris MacEwen (1-1) and Matt Patterson scored for the Alumni. Thomas Waugh (3), Ben Clark (2), Matt Arsenault (2), Pat LeFrank and Jackie Ray Bernard drew assists.

For the All-Stars, Jeremy Balderston (1-2), Matt Myers (1-2), Cleve McNeill (1-1), Damon MacDonald (1-1) and Brandon Gaudet found the back of the net. Curtis Martell and Ryan Kelly collected single assists.
