Summerside junior C team prevails in low-scoring contest

CORNWALL – The Summerside Source for Sports Capitals prevailed in a low-scoring game in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League on Saturday night.

The visiting Capitals edged the North River Flames 2-1 at the APM Centre. All of the game’s scoring took place in the first period.

Matt MacDonald (1-1) and Greg Arsenault dented the twine for the Capitals, who will take a 9-8-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) record into Sunday evening’s road game against the Sherwood Falcons at the Cody Banks Arena. Travis Thibideau (2) and Josh Bernard assisted for the Capitals.

Logan LeClair, who was set up by Cody Keenan and Cameron MacMurdo, answered for North River (5-11-2).

Catlin Sonier earned the goaltending win, and Taylor Doyle was between the pipes for the Flames. Overall, Summerside outshot North River 28-17.

Referee Bobby Kennedy called six minors and one double minor against the Capitals, and the Flames received three minors.
