Doucette’s late goal salvages tie for Abbies

CHARLOTTETOWN – Kyle Doucette scored unassisted at 18:48 of the third period to lift the Charlottetown Abbies into a 3-3 tie with the Kings County Kings on Saturday.

P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League

The Abbies hosted the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League game at Simmons Sport Centre.

Alex Hall and Cody Cudmore also scored for the Abbies, who will take a 7-8-6 (won-lost-tied) into Sunday night’s game against the Western Regals in Tignish at 8:15 p.m. Keita Morikoshi, Alex MacBain and Quinton Gorman drew assists.

Ben Miller (2) and Matt MacKinnon (1-2) countered for the Kings (6-9-4). Single helpers went to Colby Mooney, Kenny McKinnon and Mike MacGregor.

The Abbies led 2-1 after the first period, and the Kings took a 3-2 lead into the second intermission.

Goaltenders were Zach Geldert (Abbies) and Jed Walsh (Kings).

The Kings were called for five minor penalties, one double minor for head contact and one 10-minute misconduct. The Abbies picked up five minors, two double minors for head contact and one 10-minute misconduct.
