After shutting out Falcons

ABRAM-VILLAGE – The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Red Wings have moved into sole possession of third place in the Island Junior Hockey League standings.

Chris Gallant turned aside 41 shots in backstopping the Red Wings to a 5-0 victory over the Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons on Saturday night.

The win leapfrogged the Red Wings to a one-point lead over the Falcons. Western is 9-10-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) while the Falcons are 7-9-4. Both teams have played 20 games.

At the Evangeline Recreation Centre, Robbie Fraser (1-1), Brett Adams (1-1), Curtis Martell, Cleve McNeill and Ryan McNeill provided goals for the Red Wings. Brandon Adams, Jeremy Balderston, Nathan Ellis and Tayler Smith chipped in with assists.

The Red Wings led 1-0 after the opening period, and extended that margin to 3-0 following 40 minutes.

Kody MacDonald faced 42 shots in the Sherwood goal.
