With shootout decision on Saturday night
FREDERICTON – A three-game winning streak by the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild came to an end on Saturday night.
The Fredericton Canadiens pulled out a 3-2 shootout decision over the visiting Wild.
Ryan Tompkins and Peyton Hoyt scored in the shootout for the Canadiens while Campbell Gallant was the lone Wild shooter to score.
Hoyt and Patrick Daley scored in regulation time for the Canadiens, who are now 6-14-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses).
Abel Arsenault and Spencer Sherren answered for the Wild (9-11-2).
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and 2-2 following 40 minutes of action.
Winning goaltender was Ryan Hale, and Cameron Visser took the loss. Overall, the Canadiens outshot the Wild 32-22 through regulation time and overtime, including a 16-5 advantage in the first period.
The Wild was assessed five of the game’s seven minor penalties.
The Wild’s next game is a make-up game against the Canadiens on Thursday, Jan. 2. Fans are asked to note that the game will be played at the Tignish Credit Union Arena at 7 p.m.
The Wild’s next game at Community Gardens in Kensington is Saturday, Jan. 4, against the Moncton Flyers.
