Islanders start post-Christmas schedule on winning note

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Charlottetown Islanders snapped a three-game losing streak and started their post-Christmas schedule in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on a winning note Saturday night.

Antoine Bibeau recorded a 30-save shutout while Daniel Sprong had a goal and two assists to lead the Islanders to a 4-0 win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Jack Nevins (1-1), Alexandre Goulet and Alexis Pépin also scored.

The first period was scoreless, and the Islanders were in front 1-0 after 40 minutes.

Jacob Brennan faced 22 shots in the Titan goals.

The Islanders are now 15-19-1-4 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses) while the Titan is 14-20-2-2.

The two teams meet again in Bathurst, N.B., on Sunday at 4 p.m.
