Arsenault’s goal lifts Regals past Caps

ABRAM-VILLAGE – Jake Arsenault’s goal at 16:34 of the second period broke a 1-1 tie, and lifted the Western Regals to a 2-1 victory over the Summerside Hemphill GM Capitals on Friday night.

P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League

The neutral-site P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League contest was played at the Evangeline Recreation Centre.

TJ Shea’s power-play goal at 5:26 of the middle frame opened the scoring for the league-leading Regals, who are now 13-2-3 (won-lost-tied). The Capitals’ Logan Vandervelden tied the game at 8:12.

Chase McCue, Jason Gallant, Brendan Shea and Calvin McRae drew assists for the Regals. Kolton Stright picked up the lone helper on Summeside’s tally.

Avery Arsenault was the winning goaltender, and Blake Arsenault tended goal for Summerside.

Each team picked up three minors while the Caps also received one double minor for head contact.

The Capitals, who tied Charlottetown 3-3 on Saturday afternoon, are 4-7-3.

The Regals’ home game against the Pownal Red Devils on Saturday night was postponed due to the weather forecast.
