CORNWALL – The Belfast Sabres received goals from five different players in a 5-3 victory over the North River Flames on Saturday night.

The Flames hosted the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League game at the APM Centre.

Cody Garnhum (1-1), Jack Panting (1-1), Ben Naburrs, Matt Glover and Colin McGuirk scored for the Sabres, who will take a 12-3-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) record into Sunday’s scheduled first-place showdown against the Southside Lynx (11-2-3) in Belfast at 3 p.m. Alex Kelly (3) and Cody McGuirk (2) had multiple-assist games for the Sabres.

Cameron MacMurdo, Jeremy MacAulay and Cody Keenan replied for the Flames (5-8-2).

The Sabres held period leads of 1-0 and 3-2.

Winning goaltender was Jason Whiteway. Kurt Willis was between the pipes for North River.

Referee Mike Annear called seven minors, one double minor for head contact, one fighting major, two 10-minute misconducts and two game misconducts against Belfast. North River was whistled for three minors, one fighting major and one game misconduct.
