Aces’ offence erupts in third period to rally past Summerside

TIGNISH – A big third-period proved to be the difference for the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces on Friday night.

The Aces scored four goals in the first 13:25 of the final frame en route to a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Summerside Source for Sports Capitals.

The Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League contest was played at the Tignish Credit Union Arena.

After a scoreless first period, the Capitals led 3-1 after 40 minutes before the Aces took a 5-3 lead. A late goal by Summerside closed out the scoring.

Riley Shea (1-2), Slade Handrahan (1-2), Traven Gaudet (1-1), Troy Gallant and Tyson Carragher scored for the Aces, who improved to 10-5-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses). Dylan Rayner added a single assist.

Matt MacDonald (1-1), Tyler Dexter (1-1), Nathan Arsenault and Tyler MacKay countered for the Capitals (7-8-1). Brittan Turner, Zack MacDonald, Gregory Arsenault and Johnny Johnson set up the goals.

Winning goaltender was Chase Dyment. Jake Campbell was the goaltender of record for Summerside.
