Squires leads Abbies to undefeated record in novice AA jamboree

SLEMON PARK – Cam Squires led the Charlottetown Abbies to an undefeated record in the Source for Sports novice AA jamboree here at The Plex recently.

Squires scored 13 goals in three games as the Abbies defeated the Sherwood Falcons 6-2, Western Warriors 12-3 and North River Flames 10-2 to finish play 3-0 (won-lost).

The Flames, who defeated the Warriors 10-1 and Falcons 9-1, placed second with a 2-1 resumé in the four-team event.

The tournament featured a round-robin format that came right down to the final game. The Abbies and Flames went into that contest with 2-0 records.

Following are the game results:

Abbies 10 Flames 2

Squires scored six goals while Brett Arsenault netted a hat trick to lead the Abbies. Brennan Murphy added a single goal.

Ryder Howatt and Max Sentner countered for the Flames.

Source for Sports players of the game were Murphy and Howatt.

Falcons 4 Warriors 1

Thatcher Hughes, Aidan Mass, Victor Steele and Luke Coughlin accounted for the Falcons’ scoring.

Patrick Shea netted the lone goal for the Warriors.

Source for Sports players of the game were Mass and Shea.

Flames 10 Warriors 1

Sentner’s four-goal effort paced the Flames’ attack, which received single goals off the sticks of Tyler Wood, Sam Bowness, Grayson Laporte, Rowan Tremere, Michael Arsenault and Nathan Gallant.

Shea replied for the Warriors.

Source for Sports players of the game were Rowan Tremere (Flames) and Cyriah Richard (Warriors).

Abbies 6 Falcons 2

Squires lit the lamp three times while Brennan, Nathan Mossey and Creegan Tompkins also scored.

For the Falcons, Landon Perry and Victor Steele dented the twine.

Source for Sports players of the game were Finn Morris (Abbies) and Steele.

Flames 9 Falcons 1

Howatt had four goals to ignite the Flames’ attack while Sentner (2), Laporte, Bowness and Wood rounded out the scoring.

Steele answered for the Falcons.

Players of the game were Jerry Spence (Flames) and Luke Coughlin (Falcons).

Abbies 12 Warriors 3

Squires scored four times while Murphy, Alex Koughan and Jack Rowell all netted braces. Zack O’Meara and Nathan Mossey chipped in with single tallies.

Ryan MacKinnon (2) and Noah Phillips lit the lamp for the Warriors.

Players of the game were Squires and MacKinnon.
