Summerside defeats Southside in junior C play

SLEMON PARK – Greg Arsenault scored the winning goal in the shootout to lift the Summerside Source for Sports Capitals to a 6-5 victory over the first-place Southside Lynx on Friday night.

The Plex was the site of the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League contest.

Arsenault also added a goal and an assist during regulation time. Matt MacDonald (2), Nathan Arsenault and Travis Thibideau rounded out Summerside’s scoring. Branson Groom (3), Josh Bernard (2) and Nathan McInnis added assists.

Joe MacIsaac (2), Rob Miller (1-1), Blake MacKenzie and Brandon Green answered for the Lynx, who held period leads of 2-1 and 5-4. Single assists went to Andy Murphy, Tim Paynter, Marshall Thomas, Colton Dawson, Cody Dawson, Cody Miller and Spencer Dougay.

Catlin Sonier earned the goaltending win over John Miller.

Referee Jonny Martin called six of the game’s 11 minor penalties against the Lynx. The Capitals also picked up one 10-minute misconduct and one game misconduct.
