Midget Matrix spreads out offence in win vs. Abbies

CORNWALL – Ten different players recorded points for the Mid-Isle Matrix in a 7-1 victory over the Charlottetown Abbies here at the APM Centre on Tuesday night.

P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League

The Matrix took control of the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League contest with a five-goal outburst in the second period. Mid-Isle led 1-0 after 20 minutes, and 6-0 at the end of 40 minutes.

Cody Miller (2), James Murphy (1-1), Liam O’Connor, Kurtis Green, Alex Wood and Drew Grady found the back of the net for the Matrix, who moved back to .500 at 6-6-1 (won-lost-tied) and into a third-place tie with the Sherwood Falcons (4-3-5). Matt Craig (3), Braeden Stewart (3), Brennon Jarvis (2) and Zach Kennific added helpers.

Kyle Doucette, assisted by Andrew Wong and Ryan Lawless, replied for the second-place Abbies (7-5-3).

Sean MacPhee registered the goaltending win. Alex Dunne and Zach Geldert both saw action in goal for the Abbies.

The Matrix received seven minors, two double minors for head contact and one game misconduct. The Abbies were called for five minors and two double minors for head contact.
