With road win over Montague

MONTAGUE – The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings continued their hot play in the Island Junior Hockey League on Sunday night.

Jeremy Balderston scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Red Wings past the Montague Maniacs 8-5 at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre. Benji Gaudet (1-2), Willie Gaudet (1-1), Curtis Martell (1-1), Matt Kelly and Cleve McNeill also found the back of the net for the Red Wings, who have won three games in a row and six of their last eight games while improving to 7-8-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses).

Riley Shea (2), Jarrett McRae, Logan Arsenault and Brett Adams collected assists for the Red Wings.

Tyler Rose (2), Matt Myers (2) and Matt Higgins replied for the Maniacs (11-5-1).

The Red Wings built period leads of 3-1 and 8-4.

Winning goaltender was Chris Gallant.

Referees Wayne Doyle and Jeff Affleck called eight minors, one fighting major, one 10-minute misconduct and one game misconduct against the Maniacs. The Red Wings were whistled for five minors, one fighting major, one 10-minute misconduct and one game misconduct.
