Fans donate to Salvation Army food bank before game against Campbellton Tigers

SUMMERSIDE – The Salvation Army Food Bank scored big at the recent Western Capitals game, thanks to fans' generosity.

Karen Mallett, community service worker with the Salvation Army food bank, gratefully accepts a donation from Will Dunn before he went to watch the Summerside Western Capitals play against the Campbellton Tigers.

“I wasn’t sure what to expect. I just hoped people would support “ the effort, said Caps manager Pat McIver.

“Everything helps,” he acknowledged, supposing that the array of tote bins full of donations was worth the effort and organization.

“This is really good,” confirmed Karen Mallett, community service worker with the Salvation Army.

Some fans decided to donate cash instead of food items, but it will all count towards the final tally, which will be augmented by the Summerside Western Capitals organization.

“The team is going to match all donations,” McIver revealed, both in cash and in kind as can be arranged.
