Summerside's four-game winning streak ends

CRAPAUD – Rob Miller scored the only goal of the shootout to lift the Southside Lynx to a 7-6 victory over the visiting Summerside Source for Sports Capitals on Saturday night.

The Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League game was played at the South Shore Actiplex.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and the Lynx took a 5-4 cushion into the second intermission.

Colton Dawson had three goals and an assist to lead the league-leading Lynx, who improved to 10-2-2 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses). Miller (1-2), Andy Murphy (1-1) and Joel McIsaac also scored in regulation time for the Crapaud-based Lynx. Spencer Dougay, Marshall Thomas and Brandon Green chipped in with assists.

Johnny Johnston scored with 3:09 left in regulation time to tie the game 6-6 and force overtime. Taylor Albert (2-1), Greg Arsenault (2) and Cody Arsenault also scored for Summerside (6-6-1), which had a four-game winning streak snapped. Matt MacDonald, Nathan Arsenault, Travis Thibideau, Josh Arsenault and Tyler Peters collected single helpers.

Dylan Garnhum recorded the goaltending win, and Jacob Perry was the goaltender of record for the Capitals.

Referee Jeff Affleck called nine minors against the Capitals while the Lynx received seven minors and one 10-minute misconduct.
