The opening faceoff at the Evangeline Recreation Centre is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The fourth-place Red Wings go into the contest with a three-point lead over the Hurricanes. The Red Wings’ record is 5-8-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) for 11 points, and the Hurricanes have eight points on the strength of a 3-11-2 resumé.
The two teams met in Abram-Village last Sunday, and the Red Wings pulled out a 6-4 decision.
After losing seven games in a row, the Red Wings have won four of their last six games under new head coach Greg Rivard.
The Hurricanes will be looking to snap a nine-game losing streak, despite dropping four one-goal games during this stretch.
Matt Derry, who has handled the bulk of the playing time for the Hurricanes this season, is expected to get the call in goal. Derry has played in 12 of the team’s 16 games, and has a 4.81 goals-against average and .872 save percentage.
Meanwhile, the league-leading Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (15-2-0), who normally play their home games on Sunday nights, are off this week due to university exams.
