SLEMON PARK – The Summerside Source for Sports Capitals look to reach .500 and make it four wins in a row here at The Plex on Friday night.
P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League
The Capitals will host the Souris Hawks in an 8:25 start.
Catlin Sonier, who will be looking to record back-to-back home wins, will get the start in goal for the Caps.
The Capitals started their current three-game winning streak with a come-from-behind 7-6 shootout victory in Souris two weeks ago.
With the recent acquisition of defenceman Branson Groom from the Holland College Hurricanes of the Island Junior Hockey League, and the signing of steady defender Brittan Turner, along with the recent return of team leader Travis Thibideau from suspension, the Caps look to continue moving up the standings.
The Capitals have employed an aggressive, rugged approach, which has helped the team move from the basement to fifth place in the seven-team league.
Rookie Zack MacDonald, this past week's Razzy's offensive player of the week, and veteran Matt MacDonald lead the Capitals with 10 points each. Matt MacDonald, along with wingers Greg Arsenault (9 points) and Josh Bernard (8 points), will be looked upon to lead the offence.
Taylor Albert, a recent acquisition from the IJHL’s Western Red Wings, has moved to centre, and has contributed four points and steady two-way play the last few outings.
Team captain Tyler Peters has also started putting points on the board for the Summerside squad. Peters and power forwards Cameron Arsenault and Cody Arsenault form a tough line to skate against at both ends of the rink.
Best hockey of season
Capitals coach Scott Bridges has the team playing its best hockey of the season, posting back-to-back 6-1 wins over Sherwood and North River. The Capitals handily oustshot their opponents, and controlled much of the play in both contests.
The Capitals travel to Crapaud to take on the league-leading Southside Lynx on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
