FREDERICTON – Emily Francis and Erin MacIsaac each recorded three points to lead the St. Thomas Tommies to a 5-1 victory over the UPEI Panthers in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action here Saturday afternoon.
Francis had two goals and an assist while MacIsaac had one goal and two assists. Katie Brewster and Cassidy McTaggart added single tallies as the Tommies moved to 1-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses).
Ferran Brown, assisted by Sam Sweet of O’Leary and Kiana Strand, answered for UPEI (1-3-0).
The Tommies held period leads of 1-0 and 3-1.
The shots-on-goal totals were even at 24. Kristin Wolfe earned the goaltending win, and Marie-Soleil Deschenes tended goal for UPEI.
The Panthers are on the road again next weekend, visiting Dalhousie on Saturday and St. Francis Xavier on Sunday.
