With one-goal victory over Pownal
SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Hemphill Pontiac Capitals scored two unanswered third-period goals to defeat the Pownal Red Devils 4-3 in their opening game in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League on Wednesday night.

Chase Gallant scored the winning goal with 7:14 left in the game.
“It was a good way to start the season,” assessed Capitals coach Scott Bridges. “We will have another tough test Saturday (in Alberton against the Western Regals).”
At Credit Union Place, the teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and Pownal led 3-2 after the second.
Owen Arsenault (1-1), Kirk Arsenault and Brandon Arsenault also scored for the Capitals. Joel Arsenault and Brett Ramsay each had single assists.
Jordan Hambly, Harrison Hayden and Ethan Affleck replied for Pownal, which dropped to 0-3-1 (won-lost-tied). Cole Hawes, Michael Steele, Colin Keoughan and Patrick MacGuigan picked up helpers.
Pownal was 2-for-6 on the power play while Summerside was 1-for-7.
Blake Arsenault picked up the goaltending win.
The Capitals’ next home game is against the Mid-Isle Matrix on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
