To road win over Bridgewater
BRIDGEWATER, N.S. – The Summerside Western Capitals got back on the winning track Friday night.
JP Harvey and Blaize Bridges each recorded three points to lead the Capitals to a 5-2 road victory over the Bridgewater Lumberjacks before 450 fans at the Lunenburg County Life Style Centre.
Harvey had one goal and two assists while Bridges set up three goals. Michael Crocock (1-1), Thomas Stavert (1-1), Bruce Hornbrook and Malik Johnson netted the other goals for the Capitals, who improved to 3-7-0-0 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses). Brad Power added a single assist.
Brennan Bailey (1-1) and Layton Parsons countered for the Lumberjacks (1-9-0-2), who defeated the Caps 3-2 in Summerside on Sunday, Oct. 13.
The Caps jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period, and increased that margin to 5-0 at the end of 40 minutes.
Overall, the Capitals held a slim 34-32 shots-on-goal advantage despite outshooting the Lumberjacks 20-4 in the first period. Simon-Pier Chamberland earned the goaltending win over Cory Petersen.
The game’s three stars were:
1. Blaize Bridges (Capitals), 2. JP Harvey (Capitals), 3. Brennan Bailey (Lumberjacks).
The Capitals visit the Truro Bearcats on Saturday night, and host the Bearcats in the back end of a home-and-home series at Eastlink Arena on Sunday. Game time is 2 p.m.
