Host Falcons on Saturday, visit Vipers on Sunday
CHARLOTTETOWN – The Holland College Hurricanes are preparing for a busy weekend in the Island Junior Hockey League.
The Charlottetown-based Hurricanes will host the Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons at Simmons Sport Centre on Saturday at 8:15 p.m., and will travel to Community Gardens in Kensington to take on the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers on Sunday. Game time is 7 p.m.
The Hurricanes, who were 0-5-1 (won-lost-overtime/shootout losses) against the Vipers last season, go into this weekend’s action with a 1-1 record. The Vipers take a 1-0 record into Friday’s game in Montague, and the Falcons sport an early-season 1-2 mark.
Holland College second-year player Cody White is looking forward to this weekend’s two challenges.
“We're facing two strong teams this weekend in Sherwood and Kensington,” said White. “We're going to have to carry over our momentum from a good opening weekend to come away with four points.”
Hurricanes’ third-year head coach Ryan Maxwell said that both Kensington and Sherwood feature good organizations.
“Sherwood and Kensington are two good organizations,” said Maxwell. “The Vipers have proven to be the class of the league over the last several years.
“We are looking forward to the challenge this weekend with the addition of newly-acquired players. We will continue to mesh as a team and create a winning attitude no matter who we are playing.”
