MONCTON, N.B. – The Kensington Wild opened the regular season in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League with a 6-2 loss to the Moncton Flyers here on Saturday night.
Ryan Chiasson’s two goals and one assist led the way for the Flyers, who received single tallies from Justin LeBlanc, Liam Conrad, Kyle Ward and Brayden Tingley.
Abel Arsenault (1-1) and Sam Jay replied for the Wild while Bailey Webster and Campbell Gallant added single helpers.
The Flyers built period leads of 2-1 and 4-2.
The final shots-on-goal totals were 34-30 in favour of the Flyers. Bradley Shea made 28 saves for the Wild.
Kensington will host the Saint John Vitos in its home opener at Community Gardens on Saturday, Sept. 28. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
