SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Colin MacSween scored his second goal of the game on a power play 37 seconds into overtime to lift the Saint John Vitos to a 10-9 win over the visiting Charlottetown Islanders on Friday night.
It was the opening game of the regular season in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget AAA Hockey League.
Tyler Copeland (3-1), Curtis Hastings (2-2), Logan Saunders (1-2), Matthew Gray (1-1) and Sam King also scored for Saint John.
Jonathan Arsenault scored five goals to lead the Islanders while Johnathan Larter (1-2), Shawn Corney (1-1), Alex Hambly (1-1) and Tyler Doucette also found the back of the net. Sebastien Cormier, Bradley Jenkins, Cody MacPhee, Nick Bouchey, Alex Gallant and Hunter McIntyre drew assists.
The Islanders led 4-3 after the opening period, and Saint John took a 7-6 advantage into the second intermission.
Overall, the Vitos outshot the Islanders 53-29.
