SUMMERSIDE - The Summerside Western capitals bounced back from a tough loss in Woodstock on Friday to defeat the Dieppe Commandos 5-2 in MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) action at Eastlink Area on Saturday night.

Chris Caissy led the Caps' scoring with two goals in a strong offensive attack that put 34 shots on Dieppe goaltender Alexandre St-Amaud.

Jon Auberin, Danny Chiasson and J.P. Harvey rounded out the scoring for the Capitals, who improved to 35-7-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses).

Robbie Graham and Julien Bellliveau responded for Dieppe 20-16-1-3).

Capitals head coach Billy McGuigan described Saturday's win as a "bounce-back game" after Woodstock ended the team's 15-game winning streak with a 4-1 win on Friday night.

“The execution was a problem in Woodstock, and tonight (Saturday) it was better," said McGuigan.

The Capitals controlled much of the flow of the game, with the only lapse occurring midway through the second period when Dieppe struck for two goals less than two minutes apart.

“There was a 90-second span where they got two goals,” McGuigan said. “You never like getting scored on that quick, but we were never in any doubt that we were going to win the hockey game.”

The Commandos managed only 19 shots against Capitals goaltender Kevin Bailie.

Dieppe was 1-for-6 on the man advantage while the Capitals were scoreless on two power-play opportunities.

Attendance was announced at 1,465.
