United States takes three-goal lead into second intermission

SUMMERSIDE -

SUMMERSIDE -- The second period is over and the Untied States leads Sweden 3-0 in a quarter-final game at the 2009 World Junior 'A' Hockey Challenge on Thursday afternoon.

Nick Jensen (4:06), David Girths (8:20) and Shane Berschbach (15:35) scored second-period goals for the United States.

The United States has fired 29 shots at Sweden goaltender Jonas Gunnarsson while Eric Mihalik has stopped all 18 shots directed his way for the United States.

The United States is 1-for-5 on the power play and Sweden failed to score on its lone man advantage.
