Charlottetown's Lorie Kane shot a 1-over 71 Thursday during the opening round of the CN Canadian Women's Open at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton.
She is tied for 59th.
Defending champion Lydia Ko is tied for the lead with Angela Stanford and Christel Boeljon at 5-under. They have a one-stroke lead over Paula Creamer and Cristie Kerr.
Boeljon recorded the shot of the day after she aced the par-3 16th from 126 yards with a 9-iron. The ace was her first ever on the LPGA Tour.
“I think this round is the best I could have had,” said Boeljon, who went birdie-eagle-birdie on holes 15 through 17. “Of course the hole in one was super nice. That helped me out a lot.”
Kane begins Friday on the 10th hole at 4:25 p.m. Atlantic. She is playing with Karrie Webb and Stacy Lewis.
