With road win over Amherst
SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Waterwise Spartans spoiled the Amherst Wolfpack's home opener in the P.E.I. Bantam Tackle Football League on Saturday afternoon.

Quarterback Jayden Reid scored five rushing touchdowns and passed for another in the Summerside Waterwise Spartans’ 72-32 road victory over the Amherst Wolfpack in the P.E.I. Bantam Tackle Football League on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans defeated the Wolfpack 72-32 to improve their first-place record to 3-0 (won-lost). Amherst drops to 1-2.
Quarterback Jayden Reid led the way for the Spartans, scoring five rushing touchdowns and passing for one. Wide receiver Seb Roy-Garand had two rushing majors and one receiving touchdown while Cameron Paynter and Hayden Gauthier both chipped in with one rushing score for the Spartans.
Roy-Garand kicked six two-point converts in the win.
"Our offence played great today (Saturday) and bailed out the defence, which did not tackle very well today,” assessed Spartans assistant coach Brian Doucet. “We need to get better on defence as the season progresses.
"We had a poor tackling practice on Wednesday and that transferred over to this game. There will be lots of tackling drills in practice this week to get this corrected"
Summerside’s next game is Saturday against the Charlottetown Privateers in P.E.I. capital city at 2 p.m.
