Riverview Royals visit Eric Johnston Field
SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Cox and Palmer Spartans will host the defending Moncton Minor Football Association atom champions, Riverview Royals, on Sunday.
The opening kickoff at Eric Johnston Field is set for 1 p.m.
Summerside, which is coming off a 40-6 home win against the Moncton Panthers last Sunday, takes a 4-0 (won-lost) record into the game. Riverview, meanwhile, stands at 2-1.
"They had two teams in Riverview last season, and they were both strong teams that dominated us in those games,” said Spartans assistant coach and defensive co-ordinator Paul Walsh. “We have a little more experience now, so this should be a good football game on Sunday."
A win against the Royals will put the Spartans in a very strong position to finish as one of the top two teams in the league by the end of the season.
"Our offence and defence have been playing great and we had another good week of practice, so lets hope we can transfer that to the game,” said Walsh. “The weather on Sunday looks perfect, which will hopefully bring out a lot of people as this is our second-last home game of the season."
