Aces defeat Regals 5-2

Tyne Valley -

The Tyne Valley Tornadoes swamped the visiting Wellington Flyers 7-2 when the two met Friday night. The win gives the Tornadoes a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three quarter-final series of the Easy Stow Senior "C" Hockey League playoffs.
The Tornadoes stormed out in the first period netting three unanswered goals. Jason Ellis (4-2) scored two of these and added two more before the game was over.
Nick Arsenault put the Flyers on the scoreboard in the second period but the Tornadoes added another one as well before the second was over. Curtis Enman scored the Flyers only other goal in the third, while the Tornadoes added three more to secure the win.
Wayne Biggar, Colin MacArthur (1-1) and Darcy Hutchison scored the other goals for Tyne Valley. Justin Grady helped out with two assists, as did Trent Robinson.
Tornado Nick Heer had a busy night stopping 54 shots on net for the win.

Tignish - The Tignish Aces won their first playoff game 5-2 last night when they hosted the Alberton Regals at Credit Union Arena.
Jason Miller (1-1), Jonathan Perry (1-2), Kenneth Gaudet (1-1) Alden Gaudet and Jeff Keough scored for the Aces.
