VANCOUVER, B.C. - As the Black Eyed Peas' song goes, Heather Moyse and Kaillie Humphries had a feeling that Wednesday would be "a good, good night."
It's been solid gold ever since.
Two days after becoming women's Olympic bobsled champions, Summerside's Moyse and Calgary's Humphries are still trying to take it all in.
"Kaillie and I are running on about three hours sleep since Wednesday," Moyse said from Vancouver on Friday. "We're laughing at things that aren't even funny. We're just riding high on the adrenaline. It's still a bit surreal trying to find the meaning behind all this."
Thursday evening, the pair received their gold medals in front of a packed crowd at B.C. Place.
As stressful as four bobsled heats at the Whistler Sliding Centre were, said Moyse, receiving the coveted hardware was the most emotional moment of the Games.
"If I were a pretty crier, I just would've let loose, but I tried to keep it all together," she said. "We decided when we got up on that podium we were just going to take our time and soak it all in because it was really unbelievable to have that experience in front of everybody."
Moyse and Humphries danced on the podium, a recurring theme throughout their sliding journey together.
In fact, the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" was the song the pair would most often play to calm down before a race. No matter what happened, they thought, the night would be a good night.
For Humphries, the last few days have been a whirlwind, but she wouldn't change any of it.
The Canada 1 driver's history with Moyse has been well documented leading up to the Vancouver Olympics. She was an alternate at the 2006 Torino Games, after Moyse beat her out for the spot as brakeman.
Obviously, their relationship couldn't be stronger now.
"Heather knows me probably just as well as my husband does," laughed Humphries. "Hopefully I can plan a trip out to P.E.I. soon so I can hang out with her people. We will celebrate with each and every person we possibly can."
As for Moyse, she's aching to get back to P.E.I. too. She's set to return late Monday evening.
"I get really excited when I think about everybody in P.E.I. partying right now," she said. "I don't think I really comprehend what's going on on my Island. I can't wait to get back."
