SUMMERSIDE -- The United States leads Belarus 4-1 after two periods at the 2009 World Junior 'A' Hockey Challenge on Tuesday night.

The United States took a 2-0 lead into the middle frame and increased it to 4-0 on goals by David Gerths (7:27) and Derek DeBlois (11:59). Kiryl Brykun broke United States goaltender Eric Mihalik's shutout bid with 32 seconds left in the second period.

Shane Berschbach scored two power-play goals for the United States in the first period.

The United States is outshooting Belarus 23-18 through 40 minutes.
