At Atlantic under-18 curling championships
OROMOCTO, N.B. – Two Summerside rinks returned home with the bronze medals from the Atlantic under-18 curling championships here over the weekend.

Two Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club rinks skipped by Alex MacFadyen and Jenny McLean won the bronze medals at the Atlantic under-18 curling championships in Oromocto, N.B., last weekend.
They are the Jenny McLean and Alex MacFadyen rinks, which both curl out of the Silver Fox curling and Yacht Club in Summerside, each posted third-place finishes at the Gage Golf and Curling Club.
MacFadyen’s teammates are third stone James Dalton, second stone Matthew MacDonald and lead Parker MacFadyen. Dave MacFadyen is the coach.
The McLean foursome also includes Lauren MacFadyen, third stone; Ava Whitney-Coulter, second stone; Emily Vaniderstine, lead, and Dr. Don Vickerson, coach.
McLean was selected as the most sports-minded player for the girls’ teams, and was also named the first-team all-star skip.
MacFadyen edged the host team (Peter Robichaud) 5-4 in the bronze-medal game. Team New Brunswick (Liam Garcia) beat Team Nova Scotia (Matthew Manuel) 7-2 in the boys’ final.
Meanwhile, McLean downed Team Newfoundland and Labrador (Rebecca Roberts) 10-3 in the girls’ third-place contest. In the final, the Samantha Crook-skipped host team capped an undefeated showing with a 7-1 win over Team New Brunswick (Jamie Ward).
The provincial champions from the four Atlantic provinces, plus a host team, took part in each the boys and girls’ divisions.
