Dominion Club Curling ch'ship underway at Silver Fox

SUMMERSIDE – Western Community Curling Club's men and women both picked up victories in the opening draw of The Dominion P.E.I. Provincial club curling championship Friday morning at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club.

The Iva Griffin rink, playing one curler short, defeated the Kim Aylward rink from the host club 6-5 and clubmate Eric McCarthy scored a 6-5 win over Cornwall's Mark MacDonald.

In other men's games, Montague's Matthew MacDonald scored a 5-4 extra end victory over Charlottetown's Phillip McInnis, and Silver Fox's Leo Stewart needed six ends to get by the defending champion, Alan Inman rink from Crapaud 9-2.

In other women's games, Charlottetown's Tammi Cudmore defeated Montague's Gail Greene 10-3, and Kim Glydon from Cornwall won 8-3 over Crapaud's Vanessa Hamming.

Teams are back on the ice for draws at 2 and 7 p.m.
