CORNWALL – Play in the Maritime masters curling championships gets underway at the Cornwall Curling on Friday at 8:30 a.m.

The top 60-and-over winning and runner-up teams from the provincial masters championships of the three Maritime provinces are invited to compete in this annual championship, which rotates between the three provinces. All games are eight ends.

New Brunswick, where many masters curlers are volunteering at the world women's championship in Saint John, is only sending one team in both the men's and the women's events, so there is an additional host province team competing in each.

Ted MacFadyen and John Holmes, both of the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside, along with Brian Ellis of the Crapaud Community Curling Club, are skipping the P.E.I. men’s entries.

Myrna Sanderson (Cornwall), Shirley Berry (Cornwall) and Diane MacKay (Cornwall/Charlottetown) are skipping the P.E.I. women’s entries.

MacFadyen and Berry are this year’s provincial masters’ champions.

The teams will play a round-robin draw, with draws to the button used to determine the winners in the event of ties.
