CORNWALL – Two teams from the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside will place first and second in the KFC provincial under-13 curling championships at the Cornwall Curling Club.
The order of finish will be determined in the Page A-vs.-B game on Sunday at 1:30 pm.
The Lauren Ferguson rink qualified first out of the triple-knockout event to advance to the Page round, with a 7-4 win over their clubmates, the Connor Lilly foursome, in an early-afternoon game Saturday.
Lilly, aided by a steal of four points in the third end, took the B qualifier 8-3 over defending-champion Mitchell Schut and his team from the host Cornwall club in Saturday’s late-afternoon draw.
Other members of the Shelley MacFadyen-coached Ferguson rink are third stone Sierra Clyke, second stone Jordan Dunphy-Condon and Olivia Barbour.
Lilly’s teammate are third stone A.J. Cahill, second stone Colin MacKenzie-MacLeod and lead Draven Kowalski. Ian Lilly is the coach.
Third and fourth place in the event will be determined with the Page C-vs.-D bronze-medal game, also Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The C and D qualifiers will be determined in Sunday’s 10 a.m. draw.
The C qualifier game will be between Cornwall’s Hayden Ford and Montague’s Damien Collings, with the Schut squad taking on Katie Shaw and her team from the Charlottetown Curling Complex in the D match.
Eight teams are taking part in the event.
