ST. JOHN’S – The Brad Gushue rink from the Bally Haly Golf and Curling Club in St. John’s is heading back to the Tim Hortons Brier in Kamloops, B.C., from March 1 to 9.

The Gushue rink, which includes Adam Casey of Seven Mile Bay and Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, won the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial championship in six straight games. Geoff Walker is the team lead.

Team Gushue beat another St. John’s rink, skipped by Colin Thomas, 6-2 in Saturday night’s final. The game was tied 1-1 going into the fifth end, where Gushue scored a five-ender. Thomas scored one in the sixth, but it was handshake time.

This will be Gushue’s 11th trip to the Brier.
