Gushue rink loses in final of Red Square Curling Classic

MOSCOW, Russia – The Brad Gushue rink lost Wednesday morning’s final to Team Russia, Adamant club, Tselousov, by a 4-1 score at the Red Square Curling Classic, which took place outdoors in Moscow’s famed Red Square.

Adam Casey of Seven Mile Bay and Brett Gallant of Charlottetown are members of Team Gushue.

The Russians stole a single in the first end and a deuce in the third. The two teams traded singles in the fourth and fifth ends to give the Russians a 4-1 lead coming home, running the Gushue squad our of rocks in the final end.

Team Gushue is scheduled to head to Hamburg, Germany, for the $15,000 16-team German Masters from Jan. 24 to 26, before they play in the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial men’s curling championships that begin on Monday.
