CHARLOTTETOWN – The Meghan Ching and Emily Keen teams from the Cornwall Curling Club picked up wins in the inaugural Future Scotties event here Friday morning.

It is being held in conjunction with the Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women’s curling championship. Four teams are entered in this developmental event for junior curlers, who may one day go on to compete in the Scotties.

Ching scored four points in the fourth end of her game against Charlottetown’s Lauren Moerike, and followed with a stolen deuce and triple. The game ended early with an 11-2 final score.

The Keen rink’s game was closer – 5-3 over Kaleigh MacKay and her Montague/Crapaud team.

Keen’s Cornwall foursome stole a single in the fourth, and did not have to throw its final rock in the eighth end.

The junior curlers play two more draws – Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.
