CHARLOTTETOWN – The Kathy O’Rourke team improved to 3-0 (won-lost) at the 2014 provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts on Friday afternoon.

O’Rourke, a Summerside native, scored three in the seventh end to close out the scoring of a 7-1 win over Lisa Jackson in Friday afternoon’s Draw 4.

In the other round-robin game of the P.E.I. women’s curling championship, Kim Dolan stole a single point in the seventh and three more in the eighth to build an 8-4 lead en route to handing defending-champion and Summerside native Suzanne Birt her second loss in as many games. The final score was 8-6.

Dolan improved to 1-2 while Jackson fell to 0-2.

All four rinks in action on Friday afternoon curl out of the host Charlottetown Curling Complex. The Shirley Berry rink from the Cornwall Curling Club and Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside had the afternoon bye.

In Friday’s 7 p.m. draw, Berry (2-0) will take on O’Rourke in a clash of undefeated teams and Birt will meet Jackson.

The winning rink will represent P.E.I. at the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Montreal, Que., from Feb. 1 to 9.
