P.E.I. Selection Trials for Canada Games’ curling begins Jan. 30

CHARLOTTETOWN – Curl P.E.I. will conduct the P.E.I. Selection Trials to determine the 2015 P.E.I. Canada Games’ curling training teams from Jan. 30 to Feb. 2, 2014.

The location of the trials, which will qualify two men’s teams and two women’s teams to be named as training teams, will be the Charlottetown Curling Complex.

Training teams

The men’s and women’s training teams will then meet in a best-of-three series in November 2014 to determine P.E.I.’s representatives at the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C., from Feb. 13 to March 1, 2015.

An entry fee will be charged to each team for the trials, which includes the best-of-three series. The entry deadline is Jan. 2, 2014, and all entries must be made online at PEICurling.com.

To be eligible, curlers shall be a maximum of 17 years of age on Dec. 31, 2014. Therefore, participants must be born on or since Jan. 1, 1997.


The coaches of the teams associated with the training teams must be National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Competition Introduction certified in order to continue on the training process with the team. Each coach will have to complete the Canadian Curling Association (CCA) Canada Winter Games professional development module prior to the final competition.
