P.E.I. representative beats Manitoba in ninth-place game
VAUGHAN, Ont. – P.E.I.’s Summerside Chevys completed play here at the Baseball Canada national bantam championship at 4-2 (won-lost).
The Chevys topped Manitoba 9-1 in the ninth-place game on Sunday morning. Despite a 3-2 round-robin record, tournament seeding resulted in P.E.I. playing for ninth position.
The Island representative took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, and scored six times in the fifth to close out the game’s scoring against Manitoba.
Four P.E.I. pitchers – Brandon Condon, Karson Myers, Ethan Francis and Logan MacDougall – combined toss a two-hitter and record 10 strikeouts. Condon was credited with the pitching win.
Offensively, Elijah Hood (2-2, run scored, RBI), Dawson McCormack (2-2, run scored) and Coleton Perry (2-4) led the way for the Chevys.
