Provincial midget baseball championship starts Friday afternoon

SUMMERSIDE – The Baseball P.E.I. provincial midget championship will be decided this weekend.

Eight teams will battle it out on Legends Field at Queen Elizabeth Park in Summerside and Kowalski Field in Freetown.

The round robin in Division A, featuring Bedeque, Cornwall, Charlottetown and the winner of Thursday night’s playoff game between Summerside Team One and Stratford will be played at Kowalski Field.

Summerside Team Two, Cardigan, Northside and Kensington will compete in the Division B round robin at Legends Field.

The semifinals are scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m., with the final following at Legends Field at 1 p.m.


Following is the schedule:

Friday, Aug. 22

At Summerside (Legends Field):

2:30 p.m. – Summerside Team Two vs. Cardigan.

5 p.m. – Northside vs. Kensington.

At Freetown (Kowalski Field):

2:30 p.m. – Cornwall vs. winner of Thursday’s game between Stratford and Summerside Team One.

5 p.m. – Bedeque vs. Charlottetown.

Saturday, Aug. 23

At Summerside:

9 a.m. – Cardigan vs. Northside.

11:30 a.m. – Summerside Team Two vs. Kensington Team Two.

2 p.m. – Kensington vs. Cardigan.

4:30 p.m. – Summerside Team Two vs. Northside.

At Freetown:

9 a.m. – Cornwall vs. Bedeque.

11:30 a.m. – Charlottetown vs. Stratford or Summerside Team One.

2 p.m. – Charlottetown at Cornwall.

4:30 p.m. – Stratford or Summerside Team One vs. Bedeque.
