SUMMERSIDE – MacKenzie Matheson set the tone early, and his performance led the Summerside Prodigy Sports Chevys to their 12th win of the P.E.I. Peewee AAA Baseball League regular season on Monday night.

Matheson earned the pitching win and laced a double down the right-field line and later scored to key a five-run fifth inning in the Chevys’ 17-7 victory over the Stratford Athletics at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Gordie Arsenault Field.

Blake MacKinnon (2-2, walk, two runs scored, two RBI), Nic Gunning (2-3, two runs scored, three RBI) and Ethan Beaulieu (2-3, two doubles, two RBI) also swung hot bats for the Chevys.

Losing pitcher Adam Richards (2-2, two RBI), Cole Larkin (2-2, RBI) and Keegan Mitchell (2-3, two RBI) were tops at the dish for Stratford.

The Chevys conclude regular-season play in Charlottetown against the Royals on Tuesday evening.
