Gallant, LeClair lead Chevys to doubleheader sweep

In P.E.I. Bantam AA Baseball League

SUMMERSIDE – Parker Gallant and Diego LeClair provided the Summerside Team One Chevys with outstanding pitching in a recent doubleheader sweep of the Stratford Athletics.

Queen Elizabeth Park’s Legends Field was the site of the P.E.I. Bantam AA Baseball League games.

The Chevys won the opening game 5-1, and took the nightcap 6-0.

Gallant gave up just one run, one hit, three walks, hit two batters and struck out 12 in 5 2/3 innings of work in collecting the pitching win. Hayden Gauthier, who came on in relief, finished with two strikeouts.

Jonathan Pinet took the loss despite pitching a solid game. Pinet allowed five runs on three hits and three walks while fanning eight. Tyler Power threw 1 2/3 innings of relief.

Ethan MacCormack (1-1, walk) and Gauthier (1-2, home run) were tops at the plate for Summerside.

Casey Affleck (1-2) and Ben Reynolds (walk, hit by pitch) led Stratford’s offence.

Chevys 6 Athletics 0

LeClair led the Chevys on the hill and at the plate. He pitched a complete game one-hitter, with 10 strikeouts and one walk, while hitting a home run for a 1-for-2 batting summary.

Colin McInnis (2-2) also had a big game offensively for Summerside.

Nick Steele, with assistance from Parker Day, took the loss. Steele allowed six runs on five hits, three walks and he finished with six strikeouts.

Affleck (1-2) was Stratford’s top hitter.
