SUMMERSIDE – It will be the Bedeque Blue Jackets versus the Metro Team One Mudcats in the championship game on Sunday afternoon.

Brady VanderVelden pitched six solid innings in picking up the win for the Bedeque Blue Jackets against the Northside Lions in one of two semifinals in the Summerside Area Baseball Association midget tournament on Sunday morning. The final score was 5-4 Bedeque.

The two teams will meet to decide the winner of the Summerside Area Baseball Association midget baseball tournament at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Legends Field in Summerside. The game is expected to start shortly after 2 p.m.

The Blue Jackets pulled out a nail-biting 5-4 win over Morell-based Northside in one of two semifinals on Sunday morning. Morell had the tying run on second base when the game’s final out was recorded.

In the other semifinal game, the Mudcats, who are from the Moncton, N.B., area, blanked the Summerside Team One Chevys 4-0.
