KINKORA – The Bedeque Blue Jackets captured the Somerset Festival mosquito A baseball tournament here recently.

The Bedeque Blue Jackets claimed the top prize in the 2014 Somerset Festival mosquito A baseball tournament recently. The Blue jackets defeated the Summerside Chevys 6-3 in the championship came.

The Blue Jackets capped off the one-day tournament with a 6-3 win over the Summerside Chevys in the championship game.

Ryder Howatt, who was named Bedeque’s player of the game, contributed both at the plate and in the field. Howatt pitched two solid innings and posted a 2-for-2 batting summary.

William Keough and Ty Sherry also went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Clark Allain, who was Summerside’s player of the year, and Carter Barlow both had 2-for-2 summaries for the Chevys.

Noah Taylor earned the pitching win.

Organizers are hoping to grow the tournament in future years.
