SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Prodigy Sports Chevys will embark on their biggest challenge of the 2014 season this weekend.

The Summerside Prodigy Sports Chevys celebrate after defeating the Dartmouth Arrows in the championship game of the Summerside Area Baseball Association peewee AAA baseball tournament at Queen Elizabeth Park recently.

The Chevys, who are undefeated in P.E.I. Peewee AAA Baseball League action and are 2-for-2 in tournament play, are heading to a tournament in Moncton, N.B.

Overall, the Chevys have suffered only one loss in 17 league and tournament games this season.

Head coach Dale MacDougall and assistants Steve Noonan, Richard Beaulieu and Adam MacArthur are busy readying the Chevys for this weekend, but more importantly preparing the team for the season-ending provincial championship.

However, it won’t be easy this weekend as the Chevys are part of what is most certainly the toughest division in the Moncton tournament. Summerside will face a strong Halifax team in its opening round-robin game, before doing battle with two of New Brunswick’s top teams, Lancaster and Fredericton.

This will be Summerside’s last out-of-province trip and tournament before the provincial playoffs.
