Six teams in competing in mosquito AAA elimination

CORNWALL – Six teams will participate in the Baseball P.E.I. provincial mosquito AAA elimination tournament here at the East Wiltshire fields this weekend.

Along with the host Cornwall Cougars, the Charlottetown Royals, Sherwood Knights, Cardigan Clippers, Summerside Chevys and Richmond Red Sox will compete for the right to represent P.E.I. at the Atlantic mosquito AAA baseball championship tournament in Newfoundland and Labrador in September.

The teams will play a round robin on Friday and Saturday, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals on Sunday morning. The championship game will follow at 12:30 p.m.

This level of ball features players aged nine to 11.

Schedule

Following is the schedule for this weekend:

Friday, July 18

2:30 p.m. – Charlottetown vs. Summerside.

5 p.m. – Richmond vs. Cornwall; Sherwood vs. Cardigan.

Saturday, July 19

10 a.m. – Charlottetown vs. Cornwall; Richmond vs. Summerside.

12:30 p.m. – Richmond vs. Cardigan; Sherwood vs. Cornwall.

3 p.m. – Charlottetown vs. Cardigan; Sherwood vs. Summerside.

Sunday, July 20

10 a.m. – Semifinals: first-place team vs. fourth-place team; second-place team vs. third-place team.

12:30 p.m. – Championship game.
