Peewee Chevys in championship game of S’side tournament

SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Chevys have advanced to the championship game of the Summerside peewee AAA baseball tournament.

The Chevys, after going 3-0 (won-lost) in the round robin, will face Nova Scotia’s Dartmouth Arrows in the final, which is expected to start around 1 p.m. The game will be played on Queen Elizabeth Park’s Very Important Volunteer Field.

In Sunday morning’s semifinals, the Chevys broke open a close game in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to a 14-6 win over the Richmond Red Sox, and the Arrows downed Fredericton, N.B., 13-3.

Summerside pulled out an 8-7 win over Dartmouth in extra innings on Friday.
