RICHMOND – Ben MacDougall earned a team-leading third pitching win of the season as the Summerside Chevys topped the Richmond Red Sox 12-2 on Thursday night.

The Ralph MacLellan Centre ball field was the site of the P.E.I. Peewee AAA Baseball League game.

A 10-strikeout performance by MacDougall and a balanced offensive attack keyed the win as every player in Summerside’s lineup collected at least one hit and scored one run. Ryley Campbell (3-3, double, RBI) and Ben Thompson (2-2, walk, three runs scored, RBI) led the way for the Chevys.

Luke Dyment and Matt Williams were both 1-for-2 for the host Red Sox.

Nathan Grigg took the pitching loss.

The Chevys return to league action on Monday, when they host West Prince at Queen Elizabeth Park’s (QEP) Gordie Arsenault Field at 8:15 p.m.

The Summerside Area Baseball Association will host a peewee AAA tournament at QEP the weekend of July 11 to 13. Richmond, Sherwood, Charlottetown, Cornwall, Dartmouth, Halifax, Tri-County, Dieppe and Fredericton will join the host Chevys in the 10-team tournament.
